The Bright ID'er® brings a new dimension to the Caller ID service.   Buying direct from the manufacturer has its benefits -- We are extending the standard 90-day warranty to one-year at no additional charge.  We also include a free telephone line tester.

The huge 10.5"-wide screen displays Caller ID messages -- (The caller's name AND number) and it can be easily read from across the room... at a distance of 20-feet or more... even at night!  The large LED characters are easy to see for even vision-impaired persons.  It makes a great gift too.  No more running to the phone or squinting at a tiny display to see who is calling.

As soon as you come home you can see if anyone has called, and who called, message or not.  The call counter displays the number of un-reviewed calls, from 1 to 99.   Resetting the call counter does NOT erase the call history.  (I never erase call history myself, but use it as a call back directory).

After the first 99 calls have been received, our SMART~LIST (tm) memory manager re-cycles the oldest call locations ~ calls without names or blocked numbers ~ to preserve important calls much longer (telemarketer calls are the first to go).

There are three buttons on the display, one to erase calls (single press, or hold three seconds for all), and two buttons on the right side for UP-list or DOWN-list review.

  • The Bright ID'er's programming mode is entered from the idle display mode: when it is displaying the date and time, or just after power up, when it displays "BRIGHT ID'ER".

To enter programming mode, use your left hand to press and hold the "MODE" button, then with two fingers of your right hand, press BOTH the UP and DOWN arrow buttons, and then release all three buttons... all within one second. The option to display time in 12 or 24-Hour mode should display. If the left button is held too long, it will erase the call history.  Try again.

  • The digital Clock display may be programmed for 12 or 24-hour format.  We have added a Month & Day display during normal clock mode.

  • The display is programmable for Name, Number, or Both.  (In "Both" mode, the display alternates for two seconds of each).   Caller ID display is maintained for about 20 seconds of the ring cycle.  It then returns to the date and time display.

(An extravagant user could mount two Bright ID'ers next to  each other, and program one for name, and the second one for number).  I have one for the living room and one in the bedroom.  Don't forget the 5% discount when you buy two or more.

  • There are eight levels of brightness to the display to match ambient room lighting.   This is especially nice if you place the Bright ID'er next to the TV set.

No more getting up or interrupting important tasks for undesirable incoming calls.  Being able to immediately detect who is calling at a glance permits the subscriber to recognize toll calls he may wish to accept rather than returning at a future expense.  This reduction in long distance call-back billing charges could easily offset the cost of monthly Caller ID service and more.

The Bright ID'er® has an exclusive line/station busy indicator LED that reports extensions left off-hook, in use, or if your basic telephone service has been interrupted.  This truly unique feature also lets you know if teenagers are making after- hour calls when they should be doing their homework or other tasks.

When cable TV installers accidentally crimped my home phone line, the "out-of-service" LED was my first indication.  I first thought someone was on my line with the "off-hook" LED indicator.   I have two at home; one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom.  They make great gifts.

Other unique features include a non-volatile memory (no batteries required), auto clock set-up initiated by the first incoming call event, and refreshed for continual accuracy with each recurring message delivery.  Even Daylight Savings changes are made with the first call of the new day.

The screen automatically reverts to the clock display mode when not receiving Caller ID information.  The unit is housed in a distinctive high-utility ABS enclosure and suitably provisioned for table, desk or wall mounting.

The BRIGHT ID'er requires standard Caller ID subscription service from the central telephone office.  It does not perform Call Waiting displays.  Certain mobile phone service providers supply their subscriber's phone number and may fail to provide the proper name display, or may simply identify the origin city or mobile company name.

[] The Bright ID'er is designed for plain old telephone service (typical home systems).  It does not work with digital office phones such as Merlin and Nortel Networks.  It is designed for a single line input, although "line concentrator switches" are available to feed two lines into one.

[] Several VOIP services have been tested and found to be non-compliant with the Bellcore Specs (they did not even carry correct date and time with the calls, NAME was dropped, though the caller's number was displayed)

[] UPDATE 31 March 05:  Lingo VOIP has corrected their Ring-Data timing so it now reports NUMBER only.  Their clock data is still in the 2nd Atlantic time zone, off by 2 hours + 2-3 minutes.
